DISCOVERING KITCHISSIPPI OF TODAY AND FOR TOMORROW
FEBRUARY 11, 2017 (9:30AM – 3:00PM BROWN BAG LUNCH)
We have been together for 8 years as Kitchissippi United Church. We are an active and vibrant church. We do amazing work both within our own congregation and the larger community. Now is the perfect time to take stock, to look at who we are, what we are doing, and where we are going? Over the next couple of months, we are going to take time to reflect, re-examine, and explore. In fact, we will challenge ourselves to discern what is God’s dream for us. Through a series of facilitated discussions and exercises we will explore the following:
Our identity – who are we? What are our unique gifts and resources?
God’s dream – what is it that we are called to be, to do?
Unique needs and opportunities – what are the unique needs and opportunities within our world where we can make a difference?
We will listen. We will have honest dialogue. We will pray. We will discern. We will work with Rev. Sharon Moon, a consultant and will draw on her guidance and leadership as well as some of the Edge Network tools. (EdgeNetworks is associated with the United Church of Canada and works with congregations, presbyteries, conferences, and ministries across Canada in areas of new & renewing ministries, communities in crisis, stories of celebration, and ideas worth sharing.)
At the end we will have clarity of purpose, we will have identified parameters for our way forward and we will identify concrete actions and directions.
Proposed time frame
- February 11– all day session
- March – in-depth survey looking at the characteristics of our faith community, our stewardship practices, leadership in our church, characteristics of worship, identify our gifts
- April/May – a close examination of our community, our involvement and opportunities
- May – results of the survey and next steps
Please come on the 11th for what will be a very interesting and participative session. Coffee, tea and juice will be provided. We are asking people to bring their own brown bag lunch.
