Theology Event Madawaska Institute Spring 2016
The Madawaska Institute will welcome Thomas Jay Oord (Ph.d) to the Ottawa area March 31 to April 3, 2016.
There will be three events during this time:
- He will be giving a public lecture at Kitchissippi United Church on Thursday March 31st at 7:30 pm. (Freewill donation to Kitchissippi’s refugee fund.)
- There will be an interactive gathering April 1 and 2. There is a space limit to that event. The cost will be at $250. You will need to register early to guarantee your space in the sessions April 1 and 2.
- Oord will preach at the Sunday morning worship service at Kitchissippi United Church at 10am, Sunday April 3rd.
Thomas Jay Oord (Ph.d) is a theologian, philosopher, and scholar of multi-disciplinary studies. He is the author or editor of more than twenty books and professor in the American northwest. Oord is known for his contributions to research on love, open and relational theology, science and religion, and theologies exploring the implications of freedom in society. He is a visiting Professor at the Lutheran School of Theology and in June gave a paper during the Process theology session at Claremont entitled Seizing the Alternative – toward an ecological civilization. His latest book (December 2015) is entitled The Uncontrolling Love of God: An Open and Relational Account of Providence.
