Tuesday, December  19:  Contemplative Service Holden Evening Prayer – 7pm

For the Contemplative service on December 19th, the choir will be singing a vespers service called Holden Evening Prayer. This work was composed by recording artist and liturgical composer Marty Haugen while he was a musician-in-residence at Holden Village, a Lutheran retreat in Washington state.   As Marty composed these 8 vesper worship pieces, each piece was ‘prayed, sung and shared’ with the Holden community he was a part of.

This tranquil and beautiful meditative music includes spoken prayers, chants, solo and choral singing. Holden Evening Prayer celebrates God as our Light and salvation, God as the light in darkness, and God as the light in our hearts, and includes readings and compositions based on Psalm 141, the Annunciation and the Magnificat.
