Last Men’s brekafast!
Our regular monthly Men’s Breakfast took place on Tuesday, May 16 at KUC. The fare was delicious–gently scrambled eggs, bacon and choice of golden or very dark brown toast.
In addition, we enjoyed a birthday cake in honour of Fern’s 79th birthday–congratulations to him and many thanks for the great care he takes of our building.
One of our members had been advised that the “Ladies’ Parlour” is a poor name for this room. We fully agree that this old fashioned and sexist name should be dropped, especially as the space will be rebuilt, and encourage the church authorities to seek out suggestions from the congregation. Naming rights, perhaps?
The bi-mobile members of the group have resumed biking and coffee on Thursday mornings. If you would like to join please contact Rob Harcourt, Doug Scorrar or Clayton Porteous.
On Saturday, June 17 volunteers from the group will be catering the monthly brunch at the Carlington Community Chaplaincy, as we did in the winter (now barely a distant, cold memory).
A discussion of how and why people’s compassion for others is forthcoming or not rounded out the morning, before we were chased out by the next group using the Hall. We will meet again for our final breakfast of the season on Tues, June 20.
