Sunday School

The Kitchissippi Cooperative Sunday School holds classes in the Church Hall for children and youth aged 4 to 14 during the weekly worship service.  We also have a supervised Nursery for infants and toddlers, located in the Ladies' Parlour.  

Children join their parents in the sanctuary for the opening prayers and hymns and a children's time before moving to the Hall for their classes.  This year, we have three classes:  Juniors (JK to grade 2), Intermediate (grades 3-5) and Senior (grades 6-8) which use a variety of curriculum to explore specific themes that bring the Bible to life and make it relevant to the problems faced by children and youth today. 

Each year the the Sunday School sponsors special events, including the Christmas Pageant in mid-December and the Annual Congregational Picnic in June, and takes part in intergenerational services, bringing music and short-plays to share with the congregation.

As a cooperative, our entire program is organized and run by volunteers. Our thematic approach runs in four week blocks and we are always looking for new volunteers to make the commitment of leading a block for one of the three classes.  Time spent in Sunday School involvement is eligible toward the provincially mandated 'volunteer hours' for high school students.
