Faith Formation
Faith Formation at Kitchissippi (2011-Winter 2012)
Christian education is a lifelong process which begins at Kitchissippi in the Nursery and Sunday school. Starting with a Covenanting with the Sunday School in September 2011, Creation was the learning theme for the first few weeks at Sunday school and during Worship. We appreciate the Lipsett family offering their reflections on grandparents and grandchildren learning together at the Welcome- back-breakfast in September.
This Fall 2011, the Sunday and Nursery groups prayed together, told stories, learned and sang about Water (including our Rivers), Food and other aspects of Creation. In October 2011, the Worship and Faith Formation circles offered an intergenerational time of Worship and learning Workshops around the theme of Food thanks to the coordination by Andrea Prazmowski (KUC’s Faith Formation leader). The new Sunday School newsletter for parents has been a wonderful tool for continued learning throughout the whole week, not just on Sundays!
Mark your calendars so you do not miss the Christmas pageant on Sunday, December 18, 2011. Members of the community along with everyone at KUC will be invited to participate and attend!
In January 2012, the younger members of the Sunday school and the Nursery will be following a special “Godly Play” program including favourite Bible stories and songs. If you want to join in, please speak to Andrea or Rev. Camille and Brian Lipsett.
Psst-Members of the congregation!!! Please take a minute to offer appreciation to those who helped with the Nursery and Sunday school during the Fall/ Advent season 2011. We especially want to say thank you to Mary Laidlaw and the nursery team and to Simon Snoxell, Lynn Fischer, Richard Christie, Erin Bateman (Juniors group), as well as Nancy Brodie and Peggy Clarke who worked with the Intermediate group.
Andrea Prazmowski and David Wray are leading the second KUC-Mahalak Confirmation program with 7 youth who are in Grade 8 and 9: Sarah Wray, Connor McFaul, Ian Kemp, Josh Brown, Noah Henderson, Charlotte Scott-Frater and Erik Lelievre. They are exploring different aspects about God, Faith and personal spirituality along with mentors from the congregation.
The KUC Film series is offered for all age groups, taking place on Sundays after Worship. This film series will continue in 2012. The KUC Ecological Christianity Circle continues to meet one Wednesday per month, exploring Spirituality and Water through learning, actions and reflections. Again, everyone is welcome to join in for part or all of these activities.
Is there a favourite Scripture passage or a thoughtful book which would be interesting and fun to study together? We invite you to provide your suggestions for an Adult Learning time in 2012. Contact Rev. Jenni Leslie or Andrea Prazmowski about future learning projects or if you want to further explore the Scriptures which inform and form the base of our current Faith Formation programs at Kitchissippi.
